Picture this: You're on the 1st hole, just as the sun starts to rise, and there’s a perfect little breeze—ideal golf weather, right? You line up for what feels like it could be the highlight of your day. You swing... and then there it goes, your ball veering off course to explore the scenery on the right. Yes, the slice—it's the one thing that never seems to go away.
You’re definitely not alone here. Slicing is like the common cold of golf; everyone gets it at some point. But what if I told you that with a few easy tweaks, you could leave the slice behind and start making those shallow swings look easy?
Slicing comes from an overly out-to-in path. For right-handed golfers, this looks like swinging the golf club to "Left Field." As the club swings to "Left Field," it also swings into your body. Because of this movement, you are unable to rotate effectively as well as manage the face. So the issue is two-fold. The path prevents the face of the club from squaring so it is pointed to "Right Field." So you're slicing across the ball to "Left Field," while the face is pointed to "Right Field."
To fix this, you need to feel the opposite. However, there are things that need to be done in the backswing to set yourself up for success.
In this video, I break down three feels that will help you shallow the golf club and achieve a more inside-out swing path that will lead to a drastic change in ball flight and more fairways hit.
